The ruins of Troy were found in Turkey. It was found by a German-American man called Heinrich Schliemann, he searched east until he found the big walls of Troy in a village called Hissarlik in 1868. Heinrich used the Iliad which is the poem that a man named Homer made in the last year of the Trojan war and he also used Virgil's Aeneid which are both non-fictional poems about Troy and the Trojans.
